PRIVACY AT PINS

Your places. Your choice.

This policy describes how Pins handles information in the beta app and on joinpins.app. Last updated September 16, 2026.

Account and profile information

Pins handles the information you provide to create and manage your account, such as your email address and sign-in information. Profile information can include your username, display name, photo, bio, and privacy preferences, depending on what you choose to add.

Pins and saved places

We handle the places you save, their map locations, and any names, notes, or other details you add. Your pins are private by default. You choose whether to keep a pin personal, share it with Circles, or make it public.

Private Circles

Circles are private maps for their members. Information you share with a Circle is visible to its members. Pins handles Circle membership and the content shared there to make those maps work. Other members may retain information they have already seen or copied, so share thoughtfully.

Public profiles, maps, and follow requests

Information you choose to make public can be seen by other users. Public pins and maps can help people discover and save places. Private profiles do not show public maps. Search for private profiles exposes limited identity information only, such as a username, display name, or profile image, rather than private maps or pins.

Users can request to follow private accounts. A follow request does not by itself make private pins public or grant membership in a Circle.

Location permission

If you grant location permission, Pins can use your device’s location to show your position on the map and help you find nearby places. You can change or revoke this permission in your device settings. Features that depend on your current location may be limited without permission. Granting location permission does not by itself make your location public.

Device and app information

Technical information needed to operate the app or website may include device type, operating system, app version, IP address, and error information. Hosting services may process basic request information when serving joinpins.app. This website does not include a signup database, advertising trackers, or analytics scripts.

How information is used

Information is used to provide accounts, save and display places, manage Circles and follow requests, respect visibility settings, respond to support requests, and investigate problems or misuse. If you email us, we receive your email address and the information in your message. If you request beta updates, we use that message to respond about beta availability.

Sharing and visibility controls

Your sharing choices determine who can see your content in Pins. Service providers used to operate the app, website, or email may process information needed to provide those services. Information may also be disclosed when required by applicable law or to address security or abuse issues. Public content may be copied by people who can see it; changing its visibility cannot recall copies they already made.

Account deletion and retention

You can request permanent account deletion through Profile → Settings → Delete Account in the app. See account deletion instructions for help. Deletion may remove your account, profile, and pin data. Some information may need to be retained to meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, or address security and abuse. This policy does not promise a specific deletion or backup removal timeline.

Data security

We aim to protect information through appropriate safeguards and access controls. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure. Use a secure account password and contact us if you suspect unauthorized access.

Children’s privacy

Pins is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

Changes to this policy

As Pins develops, we may update this policy to reflect changes to the app or how information is handled. The updated policy will appear here with a revised date. Check this page before using new features.
